The Xbox One was the top selling console during the month of December according to new data from the NPD Group, Microsoft managed to sell 908,000 units during the last month of 2013. In addition to its newest system doing big numbers, the software giant sold over 643,000 Xbox 360s. Combined, Microsoft’s Xbox hardware division managed to rake in over $1.39 billion during the month of December in the US alone.

It’s obvious that the Xbox One is off to a quick start, but remember that a new console race runs more like a marathon, so it’ll be interesting to see what type of pace Microsoft’s big black box can hold over the next few years. However, in the meantime, these numbers are definitely something to celebrate.
