Wanna chat with your Xbox 360 buddies from your Xbox One? Here’s a theoretical workaround

If you’re one of those cool kids who snagged an Xbox One a few days ago, odds are quite a few people on your friend’s list are still rocking an Xbox 360. By now it’s well documented that a person using an Xbox One can’t voice chat with someone using an Xbox 360 over Xbox Live.

While this is a true statement, where there’s a will there’s a way and it is possible to have an Xbox Live voice chat between the two different consoles it just requires a few specifics.

For starters, both parties will need an Xbox 360 (one must have HDMI-out). The person using the Xbox One (needs the Xbox 360 with HDMI-out) will need to connect their 360 to their Xbox One’s HDMI-in port. Once set up and both parties are online, the Xbox 360 can be ran in the background allowing the Xbox One owner to chat with the Xbox 360 user by way of their next-gen console.

In theory this should work, but you’re probably better off just calling each other on the phone, but where’s the fun it that?
