Microsoft recently announced that the Xbox One is coming to 26 new markets in September and among those territories is Japan, a place where the Xbox brand has struggled since inception. Preparing for its release in this challenging region, the company’s Phil Spencer recently revealed to Famitsu that it is taking special measures for the Xbox One’s next big launch.
“I’m very excited about the announcement of the release window in Japan. An unique exclusive title for Xbox One is going to be released by an awesome Japanese studio,” Spencer said, before adding, “I’m looking forward to go to Tokyo Game Show this year, and I want to show everyone something never seen before. Stay tuned!”
Tokyo Game Show isn’t until September, which is when the Xbox One is scheduled to hit Japan. While this is several months away, the company is also preparing for E3 in June, where it could possibly discuss its expanded launch plans. Spencer recently revealed that Microsoft’s E3 showing would have a huge focus on games and that the company was working to pack its presentation into its 90 minute time slot.
With rumors of a new Halo game and an Xbox One VR headset in the works, we’re curious to see what the folks in Redmond have planned in the next couple of months.
