There must be something in the water. Last week Walmart and Best Buy cut the Xbox One’s price by $50 and Amazon quickly followed suit. Today, Microsoft and Target are getting in on the action by reducing the console’s Titanfall and standard edition bundles to $450. So far these price cuts are listed as temporary across all participating retailers, but if this trend continues, we wonder how long it will be before this or a lower price point for the Xbox One becomes standard.
Whatever the case may be, if you’ve been holding out on getting an Xbox One, but you’re at your breaking point, it seems like now is a good time to cash in. As for the recent run of Xbox One price drops, we’ve reached out to Microsoft for comment and will update this news article if any new information becomes available.
Update: A Microsoft spokesperson reached out to us with the following statement:
This is not a price drop on Xbox One. The Microsoft retail stores often set prices and run promotions in line with the rest of the retail industry, ensuring that its customers always get a good value for the devices and services purchased from the stores. The current online and physical Microsoft retail store price is not reflective of an MSRP price drop on Xbox One, which is still priced at $499 USD.
