I’ve got some bad news for our Japanese readers who held any interest in playing Bungie’s newest shooter, Destiny. As the title of this article may suggest, Sony has managed to throw enough money at Activision to successfully convince the publisher to not only market the title as a PlayStation exclusive, but to make the game a full-blown exclusive in the Japanese market. That’s right, Destiny is not coming to Xbox platforms in Japan.

While Microsoft’s product has never been a vibrant success in Japan, the small following that Xbox has acquired is a passionate one, deemed the “hardcore audience” by many a Japanese gaming consumer. And while these audiences will likely still be getting their hands on the game via importing the software (Yay for no region locking!) the lack of a shelf-presence definitely won’t be assisting the Xbox brand in any way.
