Was the unbundling of Kinect enough? Was a price-drop enough? Was the announcement of Halo 5: Guardians enough? Well if they weren’t, then how about an HD collection of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4, dubbed “Halo: The Master Chief Collection“? In a recent correspondence between Engadget and their anonymous source, it is said that the set will zero in on Halo‘s most famous soldier to refresh audience’s memories ahead of Halo 5‘s release, so installments such as like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach likely won’t be a part of the package.
The game’s developer is unknown at this point, but considering that Saber Interactive handled Halo: CEA and is also working on an unannounced Xbox One project, the team is a noteworthy candidate. At this point, specifics such as resolution and frame-rate, releases and distribution are unknown, but unless Microsoft decides to blow their entire Halo-oriented E3 load in one day, then I’d say that we’ll probably have to wait until E3 to get those details.
Clearly this is all rumor at this point, BUT(!) this has been rumored for quite a while by NeoGAF user “ntkrnl,” and everything he’s discussed has since been announced or enforced, so I’m gonna tag this one under the “likely” category.
