The Xbox One’s first post-launch system update will start trickling out at 8pm EST tonight. Although the new firmware push doesn’t include any fancy new system features, it does address a few performance hiccups.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect:
- Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
- Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
- Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
- Addresses dashboard performance for some users
- Offers improvements for Xbox One’s TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time
- Updated wireless networking driver to improve connectivity issues for some users
If you’re using the Xbox One’s Instant On feature, your console will automatically check for the update, download it and install it in the background. Once done your system will power down completely and will require a manual power up, as the “Xbox on” command will not work immediately after a complete shutdown.
If your console does not have Instant On enabled, you’ll be required to download and after Thursday, December 12th by 7pm EST.
