Last week when the public finally got their hands on the PlayStation 4, we saw thermal scans of the console that showed significant heat production thanks to the internal power supply. With the Xbox One now available across the country, the same treatment has been given to Microsoft’s new console with surprising results. You can check out the gallery below to see the heat pattern generated by the Xbox One after being turned on for just 15 minutes, and then later on after having been run for 3 hours.
It’s interesting to see these patterns and perhaps even more interesting–though to be expected–is the fact that the Xbox One runs about 15 degrees cooler than the PlayStation 4 thanks to its external power brick. After running for 3 hours, the maximum temperature observed was around 114ºF. Interestingly enough the Kinect seems to get pretty hot as well.
