Voice commands are a major part of the Xbox One experience, however unlike popular smartphone software like Siri and Google Now, the console typically doesn’t support casual conversation. For example, if you want to launch a game via voice command, you’ll have to say it in a formal manner. A command like “Xbox, launch Ryse” won’t work. Instead, you’ll need to say something along the lines of “Xbox, launch Ryse: Son of Rome.”
A disappointment in some regards, all hope is not lost. The Xbox One’s baked-in Bing search appears to accept commands in more of a conversational tone. As demonstrated in this video, you can say thing like “I wanna watch Iron Man 3” and it’ll bring up the movie.
In addition to showing off some of the Xbox One’s Bing capabilities, hopefully this video is a beacon of hope of what we might be able to expect from general system voice commands in the not so distant future.
