Popular indie developer, Capybara Games, has released a new trailer for their upcoming title Below. The game was first revealed at E3 2013 as part of Microsoft’s press conference, leading many to assume that it would be an Xbox Exclusive. Capy later explained that the game would be releasing first on Xbox One, with on other platforms coming after a period of timed exclusivity on Microsoft’s box. This can be seen by a glimpse of the Steam logo at the end of the trailer.
As someone who usually isn’t a huge proponent of indie games, Below does a good job of capturing my interest. Between what little gameplay we’ve seen and the hands-on impressions that various media outlets are reporting, as well as interviews with Capy themselves, the game is looking like a cross between traditional top-down Zelda titles (think The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons or The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past) and Dark Souls, with the multiplayer specifically working in much the same way as FromSoft’s Souls installments. I am very much okay with this! (Even if it does upset the creative director, Kris Piotrowski.)
Below is set to be released on Xbox One at some point later this year, though no specific release date has been announced.
