Respawn Entertainment is updating Titanfall’s matchmaking to reassign teams more often, placing a focus on skill over speed when setting up a game, according to a post on the game’s official website.
The game will use skill data to match teammates and opponents, instead of rushing to find a game, which can easily cause unbalanced matches resulting in players quitting and having a bad experience. Balanced games may be better for Titanfall’s community, however this improved system does come with a slight tradeoff. This new setup focuses on quality over speed, so matchmaking could take a little bit longer since it’s sorting out players based on skill level.
“This will give us more time to build better teams and create closer games that are worth staying in for a longer period of time,” the post reads.
If your team is continuously getting clobbered, the game will match your squad with a new set of opponents in effort to level the playing field.
“Did you lose to a really great team? We’ll make them disappear and replace them with a new opposing team,” the post states, “and they will have no idea that you just got your butts kicked.”
