The Xbox One launches in a few days and Microsoft is already well into planning what’s next for its new console. Speaking with Polygon, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer said “We’ve got a lot of news. Frankly, we’ve got enough news that our E3 would be a little overloaded if we kept everything for that. We’re being real thoughtful about the news that people want to hear and also the right time to announce games so that we’re not too early.”
As for following up on previously announced games like Quantum Break, Spencer said ”Maybe VGX [formerly Spike’s Vide Game Awards] would be a good place for that.” In addition to progress on Remedy Entertainment’s game, he also revealed that Insomniac Games’ Sunset Overdrive has passed its “vertical slice,” which means it now has an internal playable demo that gives Microsoft an idea of what it can expect.
“We’re playing a full section of the game and feeling really good about the open world gameplay that they’ve put together,” he said. “I like the investment around new IP at the launch of a new console.”
We won’t have to wait too long to see what’s on tap, as the VGX awards will air on Saturday, December 7th.
