For those of us who feel the need to share everything we do with everyone in our lives – something I feel that we’re all at least partially guilty of – Destiny’s beta is coming to consoles that are built around social media! That means that one way or the other, many of us are either going be producing and/or viewing a lot of content between the 23rd and the 27th.

In order to get in on this streaming action, first you’ll need access to the Destiny beta, which you can receive either by preordering the title, gaming the system, or knowing someone who has done either of those, as each registered member will receive 3 beta codes to the platform of their choosing – one for you, and two for your Guardians of choice. Due to this, there are likely to be spares floating around the internet, so keep your eyes pealed if you’ve yet to get one.

Regarding the specifics of what the beta will include, recent reddit posts may give us some insight as to what we could expect. Regarding the gameplay content, a post suggests that the beta will include 4 campaign chapters, 4 competitive multiplayer maps, a single Strike mission, and a “huge world to explore.” This content will run you around 12.63 GBs, so be sure to que that download before preparing all your gaming snacks.

If you, like myself, are less-than well-veresed in how Twitch Streaming operates on the Xbox One, Bungie’ got our back. Below are the instructions for successfully showing people what you’re playing.

Streaming from an Xbox One game console:

Streaming Destiny from your Xbox One console is as easy as downloading an app and chaining a few settings in your Xbox Preferences. Follow these simple steps, and you’ll be broadcasting Destiny to your fans in no time:

1. Once you’ve signed into your Xbox One console, download the Twitch app from the Xbox Marketplace.
2. Make sure your presence is set to “online” in your Profile settings.
3. In the Settings app, under “Privacy and Online Safetey” make sure the option “See if you’re online” is set to “Everyone” and “Broadcast Gameplay” is set to “Allow,” and make sure “Share content made using Kinect” is also to “Allow.”
4. In the Settings app, under “Preference” check “Allow broadcasts and Game DVR Uploads.”
5. Return to the Xbox Dashboard and say ‘Xbox, Broadcast” or launch the Twitch app and select “Start Broadcast.”
6. Position the webcam PIP in any corner of your screen.
7. Your Xbox friends will be notified when your broadcast begins.

To capture video from an Xbox One game console:

1. When in game, say “Xbox record that,” which commands the Xbox to capture the last 30 seconds of gameplay.
2. Open Upload Studio in the Games and Apps tab.
3. You will be able to edit your video clip within the Xbox Upload Studio app.
4. Create a Name and Tag for your edited content and select “Upload” to transfer your content to your SkyDrive.
5. Open the SkyDrive app on your Xbox One and select your clip to upload it directly to your linked Social Channels, like Facebook or YouTube.

Along side these tips and tricks, Bungie has issued a warning, stating that this is in fact a beta, and that we are their volunteer test subjects.

“We’d love to tell you that everything will go according to plan, but that wouldn’t be any fun. That wouldn’t teach us a thing. Even if the Beta is working perfectly, one of the alpha-geeks in the operations center is gonna kick it to see if it still works. Fortunately, we’ll be going to great lengths to keep you informed and keep you in the game.”

Those who decide to “subject themselves” to the “tests” are said to be receiving surprises and rewards “regardless of the platform that they play on.” Here’s to hoping that that actually materializes as literally as it was worded. Because until I see something pop for an Xbox fan, I’ll remain unfortunately skeptical. Destiny releases on September 9 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, and PS3. The Limited and Ghosts editions were recently revealed, costing $99.99 and $149.99 respectfully.
