With the release Xbox’s best selling arcade game on 8th generation hardware rapidly approaching, developers are starting to announce some of the open-world sandbox’s next-gen features. When Minecraft: Xbox One Edition finally releases in august, the game will be sporting a world size some 36-times larger than that of its Xbox 360 counterpart, but the real question is: How many players will these new worlds be sporting?

Well, judging from some youtube comments, some players may be disappointed to learn that at release, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will only support 8 players per server. However, the development team is already working on implementing higher player-counts into future updates.

minecraft: XO 8 playersThere’s still no word on whether or not the Xbox One version of Minecraft will be taking advantage of Microsoft’s much-touted Azure servers, so we’ll still be eagerly waiting to know whether or not we have to pester that one friend with the save file every time we want to jump in and mine or craft something. One thing we do know is that the game will run in 1080p/60fps, and that it will feature all the achievements from the 360 Edition, as well as 600G worth of new achievements.

Those of us eager return to our since-abandoned X360 servers can upgrade to the Xbox One edition for $5 next month when it releases, or those new to the world of blocks can pick it up for $20.
