Your 2014 Halo journey begins on November 11th with the retelling of ALL of Master Chief’s installment being shipped on one single disk via the Halo Master Chief Collection. Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, AND Halo 4, all within a completely reworked graphics engine AND within their original engines. Like with Halo: CEA from 2011, you can switch between the two at the press of a button – though it won’t be quite as fitting as pressing the Xbox 360′s “Back” button. For the Achievement Whores out there, the game will be sporting 4000 total gamerscore, which makes me very, very happy. Additionally, The Master Chief Collection will include the Halo 5 Beta. Not sure when it will be made available, but the fact that it exists is enough for me!
Aside from replaying all of Master Chief’s stories from his perspective, players will also be able to revisit these games from an outside perspective. Details on what exactly that means are few, but if the trailer is any indication, you’ll be playing as the spartan from Halo 5′s box art. We’ll update you as we know more.
Wondering about the multiplayer side of things? Well you’ll be pleased to know that Halo 2′s multiplayer is coming back COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED. Yes, Halo 2 Anniversary’s multiplier is IDENTICAL to EXACTLY as it was in 2004! In addition, six of Halo 2′s most iconic maps have been completely remade, with Ascension being the demoed map. My guesses [read: hopes] for the other 5 includes Lockout, Coagulation, Turf, Relic, and Terminal.
Additionally, outside of these 6 remade maps, every single other multiplayer map, from every single Halo game, will be on the disk, all in their original engine, all at 1080p, all at 60fps, and all on dedicated servers. That’s over 100 maps to choose from. Looks like I won’t be seeing the sun any next year.
Outside of the remastered campaigns and revamped multiplier, players will also be receiving the Halo digital feature, “Halo Nightfall.” Details on the story will be posted as we learn them.
