Mojang confirms the release month for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition – Coming in August

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition

Mojang and 4J Studios have finally confirmed a release month for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, and it’ll be coming to a console near you this August. Additionally, they have confirmed that the game will include all the current features found in the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. And as an added bonus? If you already own the Xbox 360 version, you’ll be able to upgrade to the Xbox One version for only $4.99. This offer will expire a year after the game’s release though, so if you’re wanting to get in on the One version to rule them all, you’ll only have 52 weeks to do so.

As we touched on a while back, players will be able to import their 360 saves onto the Xbox One. However, thanks to the new larger world sizes, this won’t be a two-way conversation, as it’s easier to expand a world than it is to downsize one. And before you get your hopes up, cross-platform multiplier isn’t going to be a thing, but thankfully “many” of the Xbox 360 DLC skins and texture packs will be available on Xbox One.

“We’d like to say all your DLC would transfer, but some of the items are trapped in licensing deals that are too boring to get into here,” reads Mojang’s announcement. “We’ll have more on this soon.”

Either way, if you’ll be upgrading to the Xbox One Edition like me, or if you’ll be purchasing the title for the first time, your mining and crafting adventures are only a couple months away. Still no confirmation on the exact world size, but as long as it’s larger, I’ll be a happy camper.
