After a year’s worth of work put into remastering the two titles for 8th-gen hardware, Deep Silver has formally announced the “true director’s cut” of both installments of their Metro franchise, Metro: Redux. When this title first leaked back in April, Deep Silver stated that they were working on an 8th-generation versions of their games, but beyond that they would not comment.
Today we’ve learned that both games will run at 60fps, but – and brace yourselves for comments from the usual suspects – the Xbox One version will run at 900p, unlike its 1080p PS4/PC brethren. As well as the reworked console FPS and graphical outputs, both games have seen tremendous under-the-hood modifications – particularly 2033, which has been upgraded to the Last Light engine, giving it more cosmetic mechanics (being able to wipe future-smog from your crusty gas mask visor, for example) and graphical fidelity, as well as level designs getting a remaster and the introduction of a day-night cycle.
Those interested will be able to buy each stand-alone game for $24.99, or buy them together for $49.99. There is still no word on a release date.
