Head of Xbox: A brief overview of Phil Spencer’s past 26 years with the platform [VIDEO]

In one of the first instances regarding Microsoft’s recent policy changes and/or executive decisions, the appointment of Phil Spencer as Head of Xbox has been met with overwhelming support from fans of the Xbox One (and Xbox brand in general) as well as from the critics and competition of the platform. Since the departure of Don Mattrick (THANK GOD) the Xbox team has seen the rearrangement and departure of a couple higher-ups, but Spencer’s promotion from head of Microsoft Game Studios to Head of Xbox seems to be the best position that Microsoft could have put themselves in going into E3 2014.

With the intern turned AAA game developer turned studio head now leading the Xbox platform, Spencer fully intends to make Xbox One the best place for gamers and the best place for game developers. Xbox has recently been hitting all the right notes in terms of their PR presence, so let’s hope they can keep this Killing Spree going for the next few months – a feat I have no doubt they’ll accomplish. For a brief explanation as to why so many are excited about Spencer’s promotion, myself included, be sure to watch the video above.

What do you all think of this? Do you see Spencer’s promotion as a benefit to the Xbox platform? What kind of changes (if any) do you think he’ll bring to the platform? Let us know in the comments!
