DayZ coming to Xbox One once the PC version is in the “Right State”

DayZ 2

It’s been a couple months since we last touched on the possibility of DayZ making its way to the Xbox One, but developer Dean “Rocket” Hall has shed additional light on the future of the game heading to Microsoft’s newest console. Speaking with GameReactor, Hall explained further:

”I think all the console manufacturers are interested in DayZ, and rightly so because we’ve sold a fair amount of units in a short space of time and it’s a game that could potentially transfer quite well to consoles.”

“The consoles are trying to sort of break new ground with where they’re heading because I’m sure there’s a lot of console gamers out there who they would have loved to be a part of, say, Minecraft when it first came out, and things like that.”

However, for console gamers to be able to get their hands on DayZ like they did Minecraft, the PC version needs to be in a state where all the current bugs are eliminated – along with all the cheaters – but that’s probably a ways off considering that the team revealed that the game would most likely remain in Alpha until the end of the year, where it would finally make its way to Beta.

“So really the bottleneck is us. We need to get the PC build to the right state, where then it can pull across, and I think everybody recognises that there’s no sense in starting to pull something across that’s dramatically changing all the time. So really our focus is on delivering the right stuff and answering all the questions as we go through the Early Access with the PC.”

So, if you were hoping to get your Zombie MMO on sometime this year, I’m afraid you’re probably in for a bit of a wait. However, if you’re a PS4 owner, your wait might not be as long, as Sony recently announced that they’re working on their own Zombie MMO, H1Z1. However, if you can’t wait even that long (and are willing to pay for a somewhat broken game), DayZ is currently up for purchase as part of Steam’s Early Access program.
