Microsoft is incredibly proud of the Xbox One and that’s a fact that shows in a recent interview with Engineering Manager Jeff Henshaw, who sat down with GotGame to discuss Microsoft’s latest console. One of the major details that was discussed was the integration of Skype with the Xbox One and some of the features it uses, including the automatic adjustable range finder in Kinect that can instantly zoom in on the person talking.

The software is smart enough to automatically detect who’s there and keep them in the field of view of the camera and if they move around the room a little bit. So that makes communications between living rooms a really great experience.

During the interview Jeff Henshaw also discusses the power of the Xbox One and what it’s designed to do as both a gaming console and an entertainment system, but stated that over the course of the Xbox One life cycle he doesn’t expect the size of the Xbox One to change compared to how many SKUs were available for the Xbox 360 at the end of its life cycle.

Our goal with the Xbox One is to make sure that it is an incredibly powerful console platform that going to service all people’s entertainment needs today and tomorrow. It was really built with the future in mind, so it includes a very large hard disk, plenty of RAM, and 8 processing cores to make sure that it can easily handle of today’s needs and have plenty of growth for the future to handle the things that come down the pipe over the next several years.

It’s interesting to see that Microsoft doesn’t plan to have multiple SKUs for the Xbox One as the console continues in its life cycle, but if the Xbox One lasts as long as the Xbox 360 did, it’s hard not to see a 1TB console within a few years. What do you think?
